Description
We love LA! Los Angeles is enormous. In Los Angeles County you can ski in the mountains of Los Angeles County while someone else swims in the ocean off the LA beaches. You could do both in one day, but it’s not realistic - too much drive time. Too often we hear horror stories of students flying to LA, driving or taking a bus on their own and seeing very little of Los Angeles. Lots of wasted hours trying to get to their hotel, traffic tickets, hours lost in the concrete jungle - trying to get to remote restaurants and sites. Lots of stress. Most times they spent much more money than the cost of our tour and see far less. Weekend Roadtrips is the ultimate personal tour guide for a great trip to LA. We even offer trip consulting to help plan your trip if you decide to venture there on your own.
A Weekend Roadtrips tour guide is invaluable in LA. We are familiar with the Los Angeles traffic, distances between tourist spots and helpful driving shortcuts. We even utilize the local subway and busses to get us to The Grove and the Original Farmers Market in LA. Because LA is so spread out, driving from place to place is a challenge and Weekend Roadtrips knows how to navigate through LA.
Your tour plan can be customized depending on what you want to do. If you have 3 nights available, you can do more such as add Santa Barbara to the itinerary. For a group that wants to do 3 nights or more in the Los Angeles area, contact us and we will set up a plan for you.
Below are details on our 2-night trip:
Friday night we arrive in LA via passenger van from Davis. The trip takes about 6.5 hours (but sometimes longer depending on traffic.) In Los Angeles we head directly to Universal CityWalk in Hollywood. It’s alive with lights, street performers, restaurants and bars. There are so many iconic things to see – the Universal Studios rotating planet, the neon LA Dodgers player, the Neon Gorilla. (Check out our Facebook and Instagram photos.) It’s a great way to start our tour of LA. From there we go to our hotel room. Saturday and Sunday we see many of the following destinations:
- Downton LA – Little Tokyo, Chinatown, Olvera Street, Union Station and local museums
- Santa Monica – 3rd Street Promenade, the Pier, the Beach
- Venice Beach
- The Original Farmers Market in LA / The Grove
- Beverly Hills
- Santa Anita Race Track
- Getty Museum / UCLA
- Griffith Observatory
- Staples Center – LA Lakers / LA Clippers / LA Kings
- Optional evening Dodger Game – (additional cost)
- Tejon Outlets on the way to LA
The nice thing about our smaller tours is you have free time to enjoy many of these venues. We create more time because we are organized and smaller than the larger tours. It’s a better experience then the big tour buses that are slow, don’t stop at multiple locations or stop only for a few minutes and leave quickly.
Some of our guests want to go to Universal Studios. There is no charge for drop off and pickup. Admission to Universal Studios is not included. These guests will miss a lot of the main Saturday tour plan but will catch some of the evening Saturday and Sunday morning tour. Some guests want to go to Disneyland. It is in Orange County (much farther away from Los Angeles.) There is a cost for drop off and pick up depending on how many guests would like to go. (Drop off and pick up are free if the entire group wants to go.) If going to Disneyland (1 day) you will miss all of the Saturday tour.
Optional dinner with Tour Guide. (Additional cost for food.) Our tour guide knows where to go for delicious and inexpensive dining.
